Ninety-Minute Bigot

Having been raised outside of the area, Aidan McMillan spoke to three generations of his father’s side of the family, both Catholic and Protestant, to learn about Scotland's sectarian divide and growing up with a mixed family. McMillan combines archive material, portraiture and landscape images, discovering the reality of what living in and around the divide was like for his family.

Let The Music Play

A couple of days after his Granda’s passing, McMillan found a

stack of photographs while clearing out his Granda's living room. All these images included himself and his family

throughout his life, from when he was a young boy right

up until his final years. His Granda spent his life in the

same few places and left a mark on everybody he met.

The locations of these images hold memories for McMillan,

his family and countless others, of time spent with him.

Five Storeys High

Five Storeys High follows Edinburgh musician Dylan Wilson and the development and recording of his first EP of the same name. Fusing elements of goth and punk, with a touch of humour, the images in this series follow the same ethos as the music.
